HE Laughed AT His WIFE For Selling PEPPER Spice…What THE Wife Did NEXT Will… ##story #folklore – Ty

Chi always call himself a real man. He walked with his shoulders very high and anytime Chidi wants to talk he would speak with a very loud voice. People in the street always greeted him. Chi the banker alpha guy. He liked the sound of it. He was proud of his job. Every morning, Chi will wore fine suits and carry a black bookcase and go to work.

But at home, Chi acted the same way. He believed one thing strongly. The man provides. The woman belongs in the kitchen. Cheddy was married to a beautiful woman named Olivia. Olivia was gentle and Olivia loved her husband very much. But love did not blind her sense of reasoning. Olivia saw how the world was changing.

Women around her are starting businesses. Some sold fabric, some baked cake, some ran some small chops business. Olivia made up her mind that she would never be a housewife. just as the husband projected her to be. She had so many ideas. Then one fateful evening as Olivia was cooking in the kitchen, Chi joined her and Olivia think through and decided to tell her husband what beautiful idea she had.

She then started, “Babe, what do you think about this?” Ch about what you know I think people will love pepper spice you know pepper mix spice anytime I use it to cook food you always compliment my food so well I can package it though and I will sell it in the market even online laughed so hard that evening this woman I beg I’m using god to beg you stay in your lane your duty is in the kitchen I am the man of the house.

I make the money and you are here to spend it for me. But she did cut her off. He woman do not start this evening. I do not have strength. I am so exhausted. You can see I came back from work few minutes ago. I had a very long day at the office. So please do not start. Olivia just pressed her lips together. She wanted to reply and explain herself.

But she knows her husband. He has his pride. If she ever continue to argue, it will bring more shouting and shouting. Then Olivia decided to keep quiet. But in her heart, the idea already stayed in. Though Cheddy was not a bad man, Sha, he loved Olivia in his own way. He always make sure Olivia did not lack anything.

Is it clothes, shoes, bag, hair, latest one? Chibi would always buy it for his wife. He always take her out sometimes for dinner outing. But only bad attitude that Chibi had was that he’s too proud. Because whenever Olivia mentioned business or any idea of business that she had, Chad’s face will change immediately.

It will harden and he will start immediately to warn Olivia. Stop thinking like this. Eh, do you want people to laugh at me? And they will start saying Chad’s wife is hustling in the market like a poor woman. eh while the husband is going to the office receiving AC never don’t try that Olivia would always sigh and she knew that if she ever argues the next one is for the whole house to be brought down with Chibi’s loud voice but she knew that doing a business is not shameful but her husband’s way of thinking is whack though J and Olivia They had two

children, two boys already, 7 years and 5 years. The boys loved bread and tea in the morning and most times Friday in the evening. And their father ch would always tell them, remember I am your father, I work hard so that you can eat. That is why you must respect me no matter what. As Olivia watched all of this, she wanted her children to respect their father, fine and good.

But she also wished that Chady would respect her own opinions and the business idea she’s bringing to the table. Regardless, Olivia never stopped trying. She promised herself that she would continue trying until she deceives her reasons why she had to start earning on her own. One Sunday afternoon after they came back from church, Olivia decided to try again.

They were both sitting outside their house and Olivia saw that opportunity and decided to talk to her husband. She went inside and brought out a notebook. Inside that notebook, Olivia wrote down some ideas she had about her business. Then she sat down beside her husband and then showed Chidy the notebook. Babe, see this plan? See, look at this book.

See everything I’ve written so far. If I buy pepper, ginger, garlic in bulk, I can dry them, grind them, and package them in small container. It will be cheap for me, but I can sell it for good money. Chi turned and looked at her as if she has seen madness. Olivia, what is your problem? Can I know the color of your problem? How many times have I warned you? Eh, are you serious right now? Look at me. No, look at me very well.

Do I look like a man whose wife will be measuring pepe and grinding ginger in the market? Do you want to shame me in front of my friends? Eh, Olivia, I am cheat the banker, not cheat the pepe e seller’s husband. I’ve warned you severally to stop bringing up this your pepe idea. I don’t like it. Olivia didn’t even know when tears started streaming down her eyes.

She closed her notebook slowly. She looked down and said to Gigi, “But I only wanted to help. Help. Chib is coughed. See, your help is to take care of this home. Cook food, wash clothes, look after the children. That is your job. I will provide the rest. Full stop. Olivia looked at him. But babe, don’t you know that tomorrow is pregnant? Like they said, we should be prepared in case of anything. We have two children.

for crying out loud. Chitty, stop always shutting me off anytime I bring up ideas. Eh, stop it. I am bringing up something that would help us. That I’m grinding pepper, ginger, and garlic. It does not make me a a a poor market woman. I am not going into the market to sell. I will just go to offices and sample my work.

I will open a page online and I will also sell online. People will patronize us and buy from us. with that we make more money at home in case of incasity I will back you up but the way you are showing me off these days it’s not good chi turned and looked at her it’s like something is wrong with you he started raising his voice and because they were outside decided attracting the neighbors to start peeping from their window to be looking at what was going on with that Olivia decided to walk away she stopped talking about the idea, but in her heart she

prayed that God showed her the way so that she can build this brand without her husband even knowing. Months passed. Then one morning, Chidi left for work as usual. He wore his suits, not his style, and picked up his briefcase. He then kissed Olivia quickly and said, “Babe, see you in the evening.

Make rice and stew. That’s what I want to eat as dinner.” Olivia smiled, but she noticed something strange. Chid’s smile do not reach his eyes anymore. His shoulders were not as stressed as he used before. There is something strange about Chid’s attitude. What is wrong with this man? He’s no longer as lively as he used to do.

He barely spoke to the kids for weeks now. Anytime he’s talking to me, he’s not even looking at me straight in the eye. Ha, something is wrong. And I pray it’s not something serious. Olivia kept her suspicion to herself. That same day in the evening when Chibi came back from work, he looked so tired. His shirt was even wrinkled. His eyes were red.

Olivia was forced to ask him. My husband, are you okay? Immediately answered him too quickly and too sharp. I am fine. Olivia went inside the kitchen and brought out the food. Chidi ate in silence. He didn’t joke with the children. He didn’t even talk to her. Even when Olivia want to initiate a conversation, Chitty will quickly cut her off to allow him to eat for weeks. This continued.

Chitty leave early in the morning, come back late. No sort of communication, no more lively in the house. He would just sit sometimes in the dark staring at nothing. This worried Olivia because she had tried so hard to find out what the problem is. But Chi kept on cutting her off all the time. Olivia continued to try at least to find out what was wrong.

One night she tried again and decided to talk to her husband. Maybe he will talk this time around. Chitty, what is wrong? Talk to me now. Chie waves his hand. It’s nothing. Please, it’s just work stress. Don’t worry yourself. But Olivia saw the truth in small signs. Their fridge were no longer full.

He stopped giving her money for little extra. Bills began to pile up on the table. The electricity man came twice to knock angrily on the door that they should pay for the electricity bill. and Ch had not paid unlike him. Then one evening. Olivia opened the fridge only to see two eggs and just a bottle of water. Just then the children came running.

Mommy, we want bread. It’s me. We eat bread. This pained Olivia because she knew she couldn’t even afford to buy ordinary bread. She then had to start convincing the children. See, not today, please. Tomorrow I will buy bread. The boys agreed and they went back to continue their play. That night when Chidi came back, Olivia gathered another courage.

See, Chidi, please things are hard. Let me try my idea. I know you do not want to tell me what the problem is. You are forming the big man. You do not want to bring down your ego and tell your wife what the problem is. But isn’t this my idea that I want to sell ginger, garlic, and some peppermint spices? I think we should try it.

Even if it’s small, I can stand with the neighbors. We need money in this household. I’ll be asking you what happened. You refuse to talk. Tell me what is going on. If you have issues at work, tell me. I am your wife. If you tell me, nothing will leave you. Stop all this unnecessary proud and ego that you are pulling around.

He’s not going to pay the bills. Oh, the children are already asking for bread. Me, I don’t have one buying like one is not in my pocket like this to go and buy ordinary bread. Chi, we have options. Let us stick to it. But Chi cut her off. Which idea again? Olivia, that no spice idea. Huh? Olivia, are you deaf? Did I not tell you before? You will not shame me.

Okay. The problem is that I was only demoted. I had a little issue with a with a client and I was demoted. I was not fired. I still have my job. This hardship will not last. I will fix it. I am the man of this house. Trust me. But Olivia could not trust those words. If he cannot be able to provide for almost 2 months now, they have been eating from heart to mouth, then there is no reason for her to keep quiet and keep waiting for him to fix what cannot be fixed immediately.

That night, Olivia could not even sleep. She was just staring at the ceiling, looking so worried. She could only hear Chitties breathing heavily beside her. But in her chest, she felt something strange, something bad. She thought of her hungry children. She thought of the empty fridge, the notebook full of business plan.

But yet, she seems to accomplish any of them. As the days goes by in Chi’s house, the fridge was still empty. The school fees kept on coming up because the school don’t call tire. Olivia’s heart choke. Each time she saw the miss call, she would always know that it is the school fees that the teacher was calling for and she do not want to be called because she doesn’t know what to tell them.

But still, Chibi kept on I will fix it. He kept on saying this anytime Olivia complains. Then one Saturday morning, they heard a loud knock. Oi, oi. When Olivia opened the door, it was Kichi, Chidi’s younger brother. Everybody welcomed him to the house. Then Chid’s younger brother, Kichi, greeted him. Brother Chidio, good morning.

As Kichi was greeting Chidi, Olivia saw something in Kichi’s hand. It was a small cartoon and on top of it was a label. Kilichi’s pepper mix. Fresh, fast, and flavorful. Olivia’s heart dropped. She knew that name. She knew that idea. It was the same one she had written in her notebook. The same one that the last time Kleti visited, she shared it with him, hoping she was talking to a human being.

Olivia remembers sharing that idea with Killeshi only because she wanted him to help her talk to her husband so that she can start the business. Now Kleshi went behind her back and started the business and that made Olivia so angry and mad. Keshi stood up and opened the captain so proudly. Brother see see what I just started. I’m now selling spices.

So, dry pepper, dry ginger, garlic. I packed them very neat like this. See, my friends are buying. People love it. I just brought so I know if you people will patronize me too. Olivia was burning inside because she knew it was all her idea. She wanted to shout at Klesi and ask him why he did what he did because that was her idea.

But she held her tongue. She did not want to disrespect her husband. To Olivia’s shock and surprise when she decided that his eyes widened. H he started feeling proud. He clapped for Kichi on the back. Hey, good boy. At least one man in the family is serious. He then turned towards Olivia with a smack. You see, this is how to behave.

Oh, can’t you see my younger brother here? He’s building something, not you sitting around with your useless dreams. You said you wanted to start all these things. See, now they already taking action that he kept telling me you want to do this. Take action. Let us see how it goes. Olivia angrily walked out on him while he was still talking.

She ran inside the kitchen, shedding hot tears. That was my plan. That was my idea. Now he’s laughing at me. The same idea I shared with his brother. His brother rushed and start the business so fast. Oh God, do not shame you. As if that was not enough, that same week, Kesh’s face was everywhere. Olivia stepped out. Every poster appeared on the street pole.

His Klesh’s poster about his pepper mix all over everywhere. People carried his pepper sashett in the market advertising it. Olivia felt so bad. She felt like someone just stabbed her right in the chest. At home, ch they continue to praise Kletchi nonstop. My cousin is a genius. He had sense so. Olivia was really angry.

Seeing the way her husband was busy praising his younger brother. Olivia could not take it anymore. She then faced her husband. So, Chidi, your brother started the pepper spice I told you I want to stop. How many years ago and you are here praising him into my ear? For what reason? Are you okay? Do you know that your brother stole my idea? Chi was standing there looking shocked.

I told him to come and tell you to convince you so that I will start this peppermint spices. All the ideas I wrote on my book. Your brother had the effry. He had the mind to go behind my back and set up the business I’ve always wanted to start. All because I have this respect for you and you kept on talking to me, looking down on me, asking me to become a housewife when I am supposed to have gone far if I started this business years ago.

Now what is happening? You can’t even provide as you used to. How are we feeding? Our children’s school fees are due. Electricity bill due. We even in darkness all because of your proud. Let me tell you something, Chitty. You will never stop me this time around. I will set up this team. If you like, support me.

If you don’t like, you can carry your shame and go and hide it inside your back. I don’t care. But I will not stand and watch my children suffer. I will not stand and watch and watch them ask for ordinary bread that I cannot pay for. Chie, I am sorry, but you see that your rules, I will break them.

That your ego, I will disfigure it since you have the mind to be mocking me in front of your brother. I had the mind to destroy my idea. She decided shouting on top of his voices. He was bringing down the roof, but Olivia did not even care. She walked out on him and entered the room. Olivia started putting up ideas together on how to start up her business.

But as she was doing that, things were getting worse in her home because the bank finally called one morning and told Chi not to return to work because his job was gone for good. That same week, the landlord came shouting on their head, “Pay my rent or leave my house.” The landlord came with talks to come and threaten them that fateful day.

If you do not pay my rent, get out of my house. You people have been owing me for the past 8 months and I’ve been so patient enough. Leave my household because the next time I come with this thoughts, you people are going to be in the streets whether under the rain or under the sun. I do not care.

You cannot be owing me and still be living comfortably. Olivia did not even offer any word. She was just standing there staring at her husband. It was Chidi that was begging the landlord to calm down that he will sort it out. After all, he had never owed him in how many years he has lived in that same compound. Chi kept on begging. But Olivia kept quiet.

She was just standing there looking. But for the first time in years, that was when Olivia watched her husband for the first time broke down. He cried and Olivia was surprised. So this man can cry. She seeing how less concerned Olivia was even gave him a lot of concern too. As he broke down after the landlord came and embarrassed him, he started talking to Olivia in a more calm way.

Ah, my wife, I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to do. Olivia looked at him. You don’t know what else to do. H anyways, you will have to know what else to do since you do not want to bring down your ego to know the right things to do. As for me, I’ve already prepared to start up my pepper spies by next week.

I have already taken a loan somewhere to start the business. I just want to give you head stop. In case if you want to chase me out of the house because of shame that I’ll bring to you, I just want to tell you that the landlord is the least of the problem we have. There is no single food stuff in this house.

So, you better continue that your cry if the cry will eventually bring out the food. Nonsense. It was then Chi realized himself and started begging, “Babe, I’m sorry. Please, anything you want to do, do it. If you want to carry the paper on your head, continue. Please, anything, help me out. I’m in so much mess.” Chi was crying and begging.

Olivia wanted him to test his own medicine that he has been dishing out to her all this while. She refused. She had a very strong heart and told Chibi to go and sort out the mess that he put himself into. As far as the business is concerned, she will start it, but she would never include him in it. That night, Olivia received an alert.

It was the loan that she has been waiting for. Immediately, she was so happy she jumped into action. She went and write down the things she need to get the next day. The next morning, Olivia rushed to the market. She bought pepper in containers, ginger, garlic, and she also buys small nylon and plastic jars. She already contacted the person that will do a small label for her, an affordable label that she will put, just her phone number so that people can contact her if they like her pepper mix.

That day, she came back from the market. Late at night she entered work. She washed all her pepper, ginger and garlic and dried all of them. She then started packing them neatly after blending. Her label was what she was putting as she was doing all of this. Olivia felt proud.

Chi was just standing sneaking around the kitchen watching what she was doing. He never interfered. He was just praying that the business become a success. If not, he’s doomed. Olivia the next morning packaged herself and she entered offices. She went to offices and started advertising her peppermint. Olivia was so good at her advertising that to her shop, she sold everything she came out with that fateful day.

It did not even reach evening. Olivia had sold all her peppermint. The way she sold it, it was as if God’s angel was following her all around. Anybody she met that day, hi, good morning, ma or have you tested my peppermint? If you put it in your stew, your soup, you will come back for more. Olivia had this sweet tongue that made people to even like whatever she was selling.

Even the men also patronized her. When she came back home, she pretended as if she did not sell anything. That day, she bought bread, but all the things her children loved. Everybody was so happy. The boys were jumping up and down, seeing bread and butter and tea that they would eat for the night.

The next morning, Olivia left again. This time around, she went into the market so that she would sample her business. And it went well. The market women collected her own and days later they started calling her more. Your pepper mix is the best. Very clean and it taste last longer in our stew and soup.

Ah, this made Olivia so so happy because people compared her peppermint with that of Kleshes and they picked hers over Kleshes and this made Olivia so happy. From one customer to the other, the office women, they kept on referring Olivia’s peppermix and Olivia was just getting calls, WhatsApp messages. In fact, the others were really choking her.

Meanwhile, Olivia was intentionally peppering her husband. At night, anytime she comes back from her business, she would sit down right in front of Chidi and she will be counting her money. This made Chidi so angry. She was just he was just frowning up and down. Anytime he sites Olivia counting the huge money she made in a day, Olivia started stocking the fridge.

Now landlord stopped shouting because she was able to pay half the rent. In just two months of starting this business, she paid the children’s school fees. Everything started coming back gradually. Then one evening as Olivia was packing more orders, her children was playing in the background, Cheddy was still standing whooping like a mumu.

He had to summon courage to approach his own wife. Babe, can I speak to you? Olivia gave him the audience that he needed as she was still busy packaging her spices. She told him to say whatever he wants to say. Olivia. Um, I am so sorry. I was wrong. I see everything now. Without you, I would have sunk.

In fact, I will swim and swim and I will not come out. You saved us. You have saved me from shame. From begging all my friends and relative forent care every day so that we will eat. I am sorry for not listening to you. I am sorry for looking down on you for everything I’ve said to you. Will you forgive me? Olivia looked at him. Forgive you.

You are just a funny man. If I did not forgive you, I will not be in this house with you. I’ve moved out with my children since things are moving better for me. But you know you men eh if we dish a little bit of what you people are dishing to us, I am sure 99% of women will not be married. Anyways, I am not angry at you or anything.

If you know you are truly sorry, cheaty, you will have to join me in this business. You will have to follow me to package others and you have to join me to go and sell. That is the only way peace will win in this house. Chi frowned immediately. Me package what? Follow you to where? Ask what? What do you mean? I beg. Oh, so you were pretending all this.

Well, now I know that you are not a serious human being. Don’t be surprised the day you will come back home and you will not meet us. Do you hear me? I am telling you before it will happen. You want me to forgive you and I ask you to join in the production. Why would I go and employ other people when I have someone at doing nothing? You are doing nothing cheaty.

Ever since you have been sacked from your bank job, nothing has been going on for you. You go out and come back with barely peanuts. Anytime I ask you what you are doing, you’re telling me one story or the other. I’m using God to beg you. Join me in this business. Or better still, taste your proud. Go and eat it. Swallow it. He not come near me again.

Oh, I will make sure I provide for the home. My children will not lack anything. But you see my one naira, I will not give you. Just know that one. feeding the house alone is okay because you never valued me as your wife and you never valued my advice or anything I was bringing to the table.

So please oh Ji is either you join me or focus on your oent way where you they bring every day. Chi refused. He swore that he would never bring himself down to go and be carrying Pepe and be selling in the market or office place. Olivia told him to continue his lifestyle. Then Judy refused to join Olivia in what she was doing.

Then one fateful day, Olivia got a hint the day she was scrolling on social media that the governor’s wife are giving grants to small businesses. You can register and join. You will have to be at the women empowerment event with what you are doing. You will have to pay and get a table. Immediately Olivia saw this. She was so happy. She immediately gathered the money and paid for a table.

She made her spices and on that day she sampled on her own table. Other women also sampled what they were selling. Some people were selling bread. They own a a a bakery. Some people were selling clothes. All of them sh they need a grant to boost their businesses. They are small businesses. Then Olivia did not tell Chidi where she was going that fateful day because the two of them have been living like cat and dog.

So she barely tells him her plans that fateful day or not to Olivia. Cheddy was also there. He was invited by one of his old banker friend who told him to come. Maybe the one they applied online they would be giving grant. And Ch the two did not tell Olivia about the grant. The two of them hid it from each other for their own personal reasons.

That day when the governor’s wife arrived in a very fancy car, she stepped down. People were clapping. Camera was flashing everywhere. She then moved from table to table. She smiled at the bread seller. She nodded at the fabric woman. But when he got to Olivia’s small table, she stopped.

She picked up one jar, opened it, and she was so surprised. Are you the one that makes this? Olivia was so surprised that the governor’s wife stopped at her table. Yes, ma, I am. One of my cook brought this spices at home and I was wondering who made this kind of spices. It is really good. The way I love ginger and garlic in my stew.

I’ve never seen one that so flavorful like this. I love it because it’s clean, neat, and professionally packaged. This is how we women want to think. You are just an example. The governor’s wife turned and went up to the stage holding Olivia’s jar of spices. Everyone, this is what we call vision.

This young woman packaged something simple and she turned it into business. We know most of us might be looking down on this, but see the way she bought it, tried it and turned it into powder. Now there is no stew I eat on Sundays. No jelloof fries. I do not love ginger and garlic inside. Especially this dry one because sometimes garlic are in season but all the time you would always see the dry one and because her business stand out.

I am going to give her a grant of 3 million naira. Everybody clapped. Olivia could not believe her eyes. She only wanted a grant of 500,000 to 1 million. But the governor’s wife gave her a whooping 3 million naira. Even Chi could not believe his ears. He was standing there frozen, his mouth open. W. He could not believe that his wife just won a grant of 3 million naira.

His friends were busy telling him, “Wow, you are just a lucky man.” But they do not know that Chigi really fumbled. He swallowed his proud because he remembers his own words. Stay in your lane. Yi is in the kitchen. He remember mocking his own wife. He remember laughing when Pity copied her idea.

And now in front of the whole world, the same silly idea just brought 3 million NRA into his wife’s account. Just like that, Olivia was given a chance to speak on the stage. She show her gratitude, she stood and she was talking with a trembling voice because she never knew she would be picked. I thank God. I thank God for my customers and I thank God to those who even mocked me because their mockery gave me fire to push on.

Thank you, God. And thank you her excellency for seeing me and seeing the dreams beyond this woman here. Thank you. I will use this money wisely and I will expand my business. When they got home that night, Chi could not carry his face up out of shame, but he had to muster courage to come and talk to his wife. Babe, forgive me.

I am sorry. T was even kneeling down. The idea I mocked is what saved us. Please my wife, don’t leave me behind. Teach me. I am ready. I want to be part of it. K was so serious. Maybe because of the 3 million naira grant. Who knows? But this time around, he was shedding tears and was begging Olivia to please forgive him and give him the chance to prove himself.

Olivia looked at him and smiled and said, “You see, respect is part of marriage, but you never respected me. You may be the head, but I’m the neck. And without the neck, the head will fall. You are right. You are right. You’re 100% right. Please forgive me. I messed up big time. Please, I will be serious now.

I will take all the instruction you give me. I will learn the work very well and I will assist you. Let us grow this brand and go to a very bigger place. Olivia saw his sincerity and decided to forgive him with the condition that she will see all the things he’s doing. If he ever flop or one beat insult her or look down on her again as his wife, everything will be gone.

In fact, he will kiss this marriage goodbye. Chi begg and agreed that he will stand by her in all times. So Olivia started the business and started teaching him everything he needs to know. Now Chidi follows Olivia everywhere learning everything about the business with all his heart. What even shocked him that the monthly revenue they were getting now is not even one quarter of what the bank pays him and with that they grew this brand to even an international brand that they had to start exporting their pepper mix outside

Nigeria. until he was ever grateful for everything Olivia did. And from that day, he had this kind of respect he had never had before for a woman. Which means don’t mock small ideas of people, especially your loved ones, your wife or your husband. The broom you despise today may sweep your house tomorrow. Hello, besties.
