She Visited The House Her Late Father’s Gave To Her,And What Happened…#story #folklore #tales – Ty

Chidedra arrived very early in the morning in Enuku. She stood in front of the old family house. So this is the house, my new home. She said to herself, the house looks very old. The paint had peeled off like old yam skin. The whole windows are covered up with cobwebs. But to Chida, it was nothing.

It was still beautiful since it was her father’s last gift before he died. As she walked around the compound, her uncle Sunday hurried after her. Kider. Ah, my pee. Are you back? Yes, uncle. Good morning. You didn’t even tell me you were coming. Eh, I don’t think I should inform you before coming, should I? Are you my father? Well, I am not your father.

I know. But at least I am your father’s brother. You should have told me you were coming. But what are you doing in this house? This is my father’s house. I came here because he gifted the house to me. Oh, my dear. Listen to me. Let me tell you. This house carries blood. You better get out of here.

I won’t be responsible if anything happens to you. No one had lived in this house for so many years. Even your father that gifted this house to you. He doesn’t live here. Can’t you ask yourself some questions why he doesn’t? If I were you, you better leave. Uncle, this house carry blood. Please, you know you uncles and so many stories so that I can leave this house for you.

Huh? Oh, you think I’m joking? I will leave every other thing I will fight for my life is this one that I’ll come and fight for old house. You don’t know what really happened here is only your father. But children didn’t allow the uncle to finish. Uncle please. My father said this house should be mine. He wanted me to renovate it and I can stay here.

You know you children of nowadays you people don’t hear. Let me tell you the truth. You see this house? When your father wanted to buy it, I warned him not to buy it. Three families that lived in this house all left within months. And before they left, one thing bad or the other happened.

One woman lost her child here. All saying that they are seeing someone pouring out of the basement. They were all saying they were hearing the cry of a baby inside. If I were you, better sell this house. Or better still, just find a way to demolish it and use the land for something good because this house is as good as nothing.

Uncle, please. Ah, you just want to scare me. These people probably didn’t fix the roof or the water wasn’t rushing well. What do you mean strange noises? My father never told me of anything. Please. Huh? You know you children of nowadays. When the dead are restless, they don’t need rain to speak.

He placed his hand on her shoulder. My daughter, please don’t stay in this house. But Chida refused. Uncle, I’m not afraid. I want to renovate it, maybe even rent part of it out because I’m tired of Lagos Rent Wala. This is my father’s land and I want to be here. I have warned you. Remember my words. Chara’s uncle walked out while she stood there looking at him confused.

She was confused whether to believe him or not. Regardless, she knew that her uncle wasn’t to be trusted. That was what she thought. That evening after Chida arrived, her cousin Nu arrived too. The both of them were to stay in that house. Wu arrived and started laughing. Okay, so this is the haunted house that your uncle was warning you about. Ah, beg don’t start, please.

She warned her. It’s just an old house. You know, uncles and villagers, they used to all this nonsense. It’s not as if this is my village. Actually, this is a city. And for my uncle to be here talking rubbish, it’s it’s really confusing. Actually, he’s sounding so convincing. If you see the way this man was talking, he would literally think he was saying the truth.

But what if he’s saying the truth, Chidra, he’s not. If anything had happened to this house, my father would have told me. That was how the two of them started cleaning one of the rooms so that they would stay there for the night while the people that want to renovate the house will come the next day and start work. That night they cleaned up, cooked food in the kitchen and ate.

Even at night they slept like babies. They didn’t hear any noise. The next morning, three young men came to work. The painter and also the carpenter. They greeted Chidera and began their work. It didn’t take up to 4 hours when one of them rushed to where Chidra was seated. H madam sorry um no ve who lives in the basement basement nobody why you know when I started working I was I was spinting and it’s as if I was hearing someone knocking there since morning tap tap tap like this come on now a full grown woman like you is

getting scared like this it might be rats you people go and do your work what you’re hearing does not concern you But as the boy went back to continue his painting, the noise continued and he couldn’t hold it. Even the carpenter, the guy that was doing the carpenter had to stop.

Yet the noise were still coming in out of fear. Those young men told Chidera, “Ah, madam, we not do again. Oh, you don’t like this kind of work. What do you mean? You haven’t even finished painting and you you haven’t finished what you’re doing. Eh, I know. Thank God you have not paid us any money. You just contacted us. See, I don’t know.

But I can’t stay here. The noise is becoming too much. The workers left. I stood there in frustration. Oh god. What sort of noises is this? How can these people be so superstitious? Eh, ordinary noise. What if he’s rat or something? Me and U slept here throughout the night and we didn’t hear anything.

Then why are they the ones hearing something? Huh? God, I be go. By the time U came back from the market and Chida told her what happened, you was really concerned. H Chider, are you sure we should not leave here? Let’s go to my host and stay. When the renovation is done, we can now move in because this one they said they heard something and they abandoned the work you want to pay them so well and leave.

I think we should listen to your uncle no see. I thought you were on the same page with me. The people here are so superstitious. They believe things that are not real. If there is something bad in this house, my father would have told me. But he didn’t say anything. So please do not want to argue. So she kept quiet.

After the two of them finished cooking that night, they went to bed after eating. They were sleeping with lights because they own generator. The house light had not been fixed. Just then, all of a sudden, the light off. A first flickered before it off and everywhere became dark. We just sat up immediately in fear. Jesus, what was that? What happened? Did you hear the way the generator off now? Eh, I heard it. Maybe it’s just four that finished.

Just then, you just started hearing tap tap. The same noise those people that came to work in the house complained about. And you faced Chidra in fear. Madam, sh. Did you hear that noise? I think it’s rat. Ah, God help me. Can you stop convincing yourself that something is not wrong in this house? This is not rat.

I’m hearing noises like someone is tapping the ground. Okay, fine. Let’s go and find out. But would you refused? Go and find out where. Are you crazy? You are you can go alone. No, I’m not following you anywhere. Cherra who was so fearless decided to go on her own. She went close to the basement. She stood there with her touchlight shouting, “Hello, is anyone there? If anyone is there, please come out.

” She waited for a little while but there was no answer. She repeated that three times yet there was no answer. Everywhere was so quiet. Ch ran out furiously turned towards Uu. You see there is nothing here. I came to it must be rat. And that was how calmed down. The two of them went outside and on the journey again and they slept peacefully.

The next day, would you notice something again? She noticed that the cotton were moving on its own even when the windows are still closed. She screamed again and called out to Chidera. See this cotton is moving but but the windows are closed. Chidela started laughing at her. You see your problem? Oh, these people have actually put fear inside you.

Can’t you see the fan is on? But your fan is on. Once it get that side, the curtain will move. Whether the windows are open or not, once there is a fan blowing it, it will surely move. Stop exaggerating things and stop imagining things to do. But that morning, you could not hold it anymore.

Chida, see here, my spirit is not at rest here. I am going back to my host. I’m using God to beg you. I say things and you’re telling me I’m not seeing it. See, I’m not hallucinating. Oh, which kind play is this one? I’m I’m not staying again. I’m going back. Come on. Which are you going to leave me alone in this whole house? It’s big now.

Stay one more night, please. The workmen I called will come here tomorrow. The ones that approve that they will work in the house, please. But would you refused? No, Chitty. No. This house. Mm-m. is not ordinary. I suggest you listen to your uncle. Pack your things and sell this house because I’m not sure I’m coming back here because see everything around here is making me to lose my mind.

It’s as if everything is moving. It’s so scary. I’m leaving. Please, once those people that wants to work on the house comes, you can work with them. I can’t stay here again. Please. That was how U packed her back and left. After Uru left, Chinra came outside and saw few neighbors that morning. She decided to greet them.

She greeted few women, but none of them answered her greeting. They all turned away and walked away. It was only one of the woman who sold little provisions in front of her house that answered her greeting. “Are you the new one in that house?” The old woman asked Chidera. Yes, ma. I am. I just moved in. The old woman side.

H may God protect you, my daughter. But mama, what do you mean? Well, I am a landlord in this house. It’s me and my husband that owns this house that we are living. We decided to do small provision to stay here. My kids are all grown up and this is where I gave birth to. At least the last two babies that I gave birth to, the remaining are all married.

My last born too once I finish university. I am telling you this to tell you that I’ve been living in this area for a very long time. Why do you want to live alone in this big house? No, ma. I don’t want to live alone. I wanted to stay with my cousin, but you left this morning. So, but she’s going to be bad though. And I’ve caught some people for renovation.

Well, my daughter, I’m not trying to scare you, but I’ll rather tell you the truth because you can be my daughter. You are of the same age with my last born. See, my dear, three tenants had already lived in this house and each of them I witnessed all the things that happened. What do you mean mama? See, one lost her mind.

Some people said she lost someone there and started running mad. She ran out of the house one morning and started screaming someone’s name and that was it. The woman started running mad. We tried all we could to handle the situation, but nothing was done. It was their people that later came and carried the woman to a psychotic hospital.

And up till now to today, we do not know what happened to her, whether she’s still alive or whether she’s dead. Then another family moved in. In the middle of the night, all of them ran away leaving their belongings. They came back, I think one month later, to come and pack up their things, the most important things. That was it though.

Then the last people came. It was the worst. The man became a widowerower. The wife slept and did not wake up anymore. She was found dead and that was it. After so many back and forth, the police said it was heart attack. While some people who saw her dead body said they saw some marks, small hand marks on her neck like a baby grabbed her neck and strangled her. Ha.

But I beg Mama. Hey, what sort of story is this one now? Are you sure you want me to go back to that house this night? These stories are very scary, ma. I’ve lived in that house for almost uh how many how many days now? I’ve I’ve been there for 2 three days now and I’ve not experienced anything.

Even though a lot of people telling me they are saying this, they are saying that but I’m not seeing anything. Well, my daughter, I’m not telling you all of this to scare you. Oh, but I gain nothing from lying to you. All you have to do to be very prayerful, pray, oh, pray every night because it might be a coincidence that all of these things happened to the three tenants or it might be that the house is cost or the person that built it did something unbelievable.

Cher was really scared, but she maintained herself. She believed her father would not lie to her and give her a house that is haunted. So she had that confidence and hope that her father would not betray her just like that. After the warning from the old woman, Chidra went back inside the house. That night as she was sleeping her one eye was open and the other was closed.

She was really scared and tensed. She was nervous on what to experience in that house. But finally by midnight after she had slept very deep, a cry of a baby started coming up from that same basement. Just then Chittra woke up with fear. Is that not a sign of a baby? She put her ear again and the noise was faint but clear. A cry of a baby.

She stood up with so much fear. Chidera was so scared. Everything that woman told her, he kept on playing on Chider’s head back to back and it made her to be very fearful. Chider stood up from that bed. She went outside the room, checked around. She went to the balcony, checked around and she didn’t hear anything after she woke up.

Few minutes later, she didn’t started hearing the cry of a baby again and she followed the noise. It turns out it was the neighbor’s baby crying. She was then settled and she started playing a gospel song. That gospel song was the reason why Chidella slept peacefully that fateful day. By the next morning, Chidra called Uh, you won’t believe what happened last night though.

Would you became scared immediately? Chider, don’t tell me something injured you in that house. Did you see the ghost? Are you okay? This girl, stop it, Jerry. ghost. I heard the cry of a baby yesterday night. I was thinking is one of your myopic thinking only for me to get close. It was a neighbor’s child crying that middle of the night.

J I told you that you are exaggerating things but you do not believe me. Nothing is wrong here. Stop putting fear in yourself. See you. We’ve already made an agreement that you’re going to be here. Please, now come and be with your sister. This place is too lonely. I don’t like being lonely. Luji then promised her that she would come but not now.

She needs to settle some things first before she comes there. Chidarra was so happy and excited. Thank you Jew. Thank you for changing your mind and the boat ended the call. By the middle of the night, Chidara was playing a gospel song and she doze off. But by the middle of the night, around 3 a.m. Kida jumped up from the bed, she was really sweating.

It was as if someone gave her a very hot slap. She was so scared as she jumped up. Who was that? Who slapped me? Just then, it was as if Sher saw a shadow of a small child. She stood up from the bed, picked up the phone, used the cell phone touchlight, and was following the full step downstairs.

It was when she went close to that basement that she heard the tap tap Ujuma said she heard, the same noise the previous boys that came to work on that house complained about. That night was the night Chiderra confirmed that she has been hearing the voice of a baby guckling and also a baby crying. Out of fear, she screamed Jesus and children ran out of the house that middle of the night. She went outside.

That was where she stayed awake till day break. By morning, it was that grandmother that came and waked her up. Hello, Chidera. Are you okay? Cher jumped up from where she was lying down. I’m fine, Grandma. H good morning, Ma. You are looking very scared and worried. Did something happen? Yes, ma. I heard the cry of a baby.

In fact, I was woken up with a very sound slap in the middle of the night. Then I saw the shadow of a child. I thought I was I was dreaming only for me to follow the shadow too where I was hearing a baby crying at the same time laughing and they were making noise and tapping the floor. I was so scared. So I ran out of the house.

That was how I ended here. That’s how I slept outside the house. I couldn’t go inside. He was so scared. The old woman then asked Chidara to follow her. She took Chidra to his own house, asked her to sit down in the sitting room, brought her water and at least a good food to eat that morning.

The woman now told her, “You know, I warned you earlier that the three people that have lived in this house, it did not end well for them. I was expecting you to go inside that room, pack your things, and leave immediately. But it seems you are the type of people that don’t like believing things until you see it with your two eyes.

Now you learn the hard way. Now slap, they slap you. You have not slept and wake up in the middle of the night and you will find yourself in the middle of the road. Ah, what is ah? I am telling you what I have witnessed from that house. The house is a very scary place to live. I told you all those stories. You think I was just making them up. No, I wasn’t.

I was telling you reality of what happened a long time ago. When we first got this land, me and my husband, we have not built anything on it. A young man bought that land in which that house, the haunted house is built on. It was this same young man that built that house a very long time ago. After the young man finished this house, we are also living here also.

But we did not finish our own. We just was able to finish one room out of the three bedroom that we did. And from that one room, we were doing other houses gradually and slowly because we weren’t that buoyant to start building a full house. Furnish it before we move in. No. But this young man finished the house in less than 3 months.

And guess what? It was a rented apartment. He rented it out to only three families. And what was very suspicious about the tenants was that all the three tenants were pregnant. The wives were pregnant. They were fully pregnant. And that started making me wonder why someone would want to put a tenant in his house and he is looking for married couple who their wife is pregnant.

And to my surprise, he achieved that. How he did it, I did not know. 6 months after those tenants moved in, one of them entered labor. The very bad thing that happened that day was that the woman entered labor in the middle of the night, but the husband also has a car. They were able to bring out the car a little bit out, packed up their hospital things, but the gate suddenly refused to open.

They called the landlord and the young man told them that they should keep trying it. The gates will open. They kept on trying but the gate refused to open. But immediately that pregnant woman took the keys, went to the gate and wanted to unlock the gate. Something strange happened. She entered labor immediately and she gave birth.

She gave birth in front of that gate. Twins, two babies. She was able to stand and push out those babies at once. And the most terrifying thing that happened was that the woman that gave birth was standing there like a stat. She stood there and she stood there for hours and she couldn’t move.

The husband was screaming the whole house down. Every neighbor came out. They couldn’t move that woman. The babies that was on the ground were crying. But if you want to help them, you couldn’t. It was as if the woman and the twins became unrecognizable. They froze. If you have seen someone that froze like someone that is inside freezer, that was how the woman was standing and she couldn’t move.

The babies, you can’t carry them. Jesus. This story is unbelievable. How is that even possible? Like the father and the husband to that woman called the landlord and he showed up very early in the morning with some pastors saying that they came to cleanse the house that the woman is a witch. That is why what happened to her happened to her.

And just like that the husband gave them space. The woman and the twins vanished. The landlord vanished. Up to today that I’m talking to you, no one knew what happened to the woman, the babies, and the landlord. Not until one fateful day, another man came to come and claim the property that the property has been sold. And since then, no one that ever lived in this house, they never have any peace.

The remaining two tenants that their wives were pregnant, they ran away. They left their things and they did not look back. Since then people buy the house, resell it, keep buying, keep reselling and no one have ever lived in this house past 1 month. If you even reach one week safe now by grace of God. So my dear I suggest that since you are still intact the way you are h you are still with your phone.

Forget about anything inside our compound. We going take the nearest boss back to Lagos that you say they are coming from or if you have a relative here better go to that place do not step foot back inside that house I won’t guarantee your safety return if you do that though that was how Chidera with the night where she was wearing she went straight to Ju’s house would you conso her and reminded her that she warned her in the first place not to come back to Enugu to come and look for nothing that is not looking for her. Ujuma welcomed her warmly into

the small apartment she was leaving and promised her she will help her stand back on her feet at least getting her things back and starting up her life again here in Enugu until then she should forget about the house. Puja advised her to sell the house and move on with her life. And that was what Chider did. Hello besties.

The Inheritance of Nightmares: How a Daughter Uncovered the Terrifying Truth Behind Her Father’s Gift

Article:

Inheriting property from a beloved parent is usually viewed as the ultimate blessing—a tangible link to the past, a symbol of security, and a physical embodiment of a parent’s hard work and love. For Chidera, arriving early in the morning in Enugu to inspect the old family house bequeathed to her by her late father felt like stepping into a promising new chapter. Standing outside the weathered structure, she saw past the peeling paint that flaked off like old yam skin and the cobwebs masking the windows. To her, this wasn’t an abandoned ruin; it was a sanctuary, a foundational gift from a man she deeply respected. Little did she know, that dilapidated structure was not a sanctuary at all, but a Pandora’s box hiding a legacy of terror, deception, and unspeakable darkness.

The ominous warning bells began ringing almost immediately. As Chidera walked the overgrown grounds, her estranged uncle, Sunday, hurried after her, breathless and visibly panicked. He questioned her presence, and when Chidera boldly declared her intention to claim her rightful inheritance, Sunday’s demeanor shifted from cautious to grave. He warned her that the house “carried blood,” recounting tales of previous occupants fleeing in terror, contractors abandoning jobs, and whispers of a phantom baby crying from the shadowy depths of the basement. Chidera, young, ambitious, and skeptical of familial manipulation, brushed it off as an old man’s superstitious attempt to scare her away and seize the property for himself. She had spent years tired of paying rent in Lagos, and this was her father’s land. She was staying.

That evening, her cousin Uju arrived to join her for the initial clean-up before renovations began. Uju, equally dismissive of village folklore, laughed off Uncle Sunday’s warnings. Together, they swept the floors, cooked a modest meal, and slept soundly through their first night, completely untouched by any supernatural occurrences. Their confidence, however, was short-lived.

The next morning, three contracted workmen—painters and carpenters—arrived to breathe new life into the structure. Within four hours, the atmosphere of casual optimism shattered. One of the painters rushed to Chidera, white-faced and trembling, claiming he had heard rhythmic, persistent tapping coming from the locked basement beneath them—tap, tap, tap—like someone trapped and begging for release. When Chidera dismissed it as a rat, the workers tried to continue, but the acoustic haunting grew too intense. Overwhelmed by fear, they packed up their tools, refused their pay for the unfinished job, and fled the property en masse.

Frustrated by what she perceived as rampant superstition, Chidera remained defiant. That night, however, the house tested even her resolve. During a generator-powered evening, the lights flickered and died, plunging the rooms into absolute darkness. In the suffocating stillness, the rhythmic tapping sound echoed through the floorboards. Uju froze in terror, begging Chidera to investigate. Driven by a mixture of anger and stubborn courage, Chidera marched to the basement door, flicked on her flashlight, and demanded to know if anyone was there. Silence met her shouts. She convinced Uju it was nothing more than a rodent infestation.

Yet, the psychological erosion continued. By the next morning, Uju’s spirit had completely broken. Finding herself deeply unsettled by curtains moving without wind and an oppressive, suffocating weight in the air, Uju packed her bags and fled back to her hostel, pleading with Chidera to abandon the cursed place. Left entirely alone, Chidera finally stepped outside to confront the local reality, seeking out a friendly face among the surrounding residents.

She found it in an elderly grandmother who ran a small provision shop right outside the property. Unlike the other neighbors who avoided the house like the plague, this kind woman took pity on Chidera and revealed the horrifying reality of the block she was trying to call home. The stories she told were not mere ghost tales; they were accounts of human tragedy.

The old woman detailed how three previous families had occupied the house, each meeting a chilling fate. One tenant’s wife lost her mind, running screaming into the streets before being institutionalized. Another family fled in the dead of night, leaving all their worldly possessions behind. The most terrifying account, however, involved a tenant whose wife mysteriously died in her sleep, discovered with dark, small hand-prints bruised around her neck—as if a baby had strangled her.

As the pieces began to assemble in Chidera’s mind, the true horror of the estate crystallized during a restless midnight. Awoken by an ungodly chill at 3:00 AM, Chidera heard the unmistakable, heartbreaking gurgle and cry of an infant emanating from the basement. Following the sound with a shaking flashlight, she encountered a terrifying shadowy apparition that left her bruised, breathless, and physically assaulted by an unseen force. She fled the house in her nightclothes, collapsing in terror outside the elderly neighbor’s door.

Taking pity on the shaken girl, the grandmother invited Chidera inside and finally unspooled the origin story of the house—a tale so twisted it rewrote everything Chidera thought she knew about her late father. Years ago, a young man had built the house at record speed. But his selection criteria for tenants had been bizarrely specific: he rented exclusively to married couples where the wife was heavily pregnant.

Six months into their leases, dark manifestations occurred. During one terrifying night, a tenant’s wife went into labor, but the exit gate of the property mysteriously jammed, refusing to budge. Desperate, the woman dragged herself to the gate, where she violently delivered twins right on the pavement. In that exact moment, the woman and her newborns froze entirely, turning into living statues—paralyzed, unable to move, cry out, or blink, trapped in a state of absolute, icy petrification while onlookers watched in helpless horror. The landlord materialized almost instantly, accompanied by opportunistic pastors who blamed the mother, claiming she was a witch. The paralyzed woman, her twins, and the landlord vanished into thin air that very night, never to be seen again.

The chilling realization hit Chidera with the force of a physical blow: the man who had built this chamber of horrors, the man who had preyed upon pregnant women and trapped their children in the basement, was none other than her own father. The property she had cherished as a loving inheritance was actually a monument to unimaginable wickedness.

Heartbroken, disillusioned, and deeply terrified, Chidera abandoned the property for good, seeking refuge with her loyal cousin Uju. Together, they made the decision to sell the land, cutting ties forever with the dark legacy of a man she thought she knew.

Chidera’s harrowing journey serves as a sobering reminder that not all family inheritances are given in love. Sometimes, the ghosts of the past are very real, rooted not in the supernatural, but in the sins of those who came before us. For Chidera, escaping the house with her life was the greatest victory, proving that some doors are better left locked, and some truths are far too dark to bring into the light.
