IF Only They Knew Why Her Food Never Finishes.#story #folktole #Africanfolktales #tales – Ty

Her pot of rice never finishes. From morning till night, Mongazi kept on serving rice. Plate after plate, spoon after spoon, and still the pot stayed full. Child, this woman is blessed. People kept on saying, “God has really remembered her. See the way she’s selling her market back to back. Customer fool everywhere.

But not everyone believed it was just God. But the rumor about the sweetness of the rice made people to come back to buy for more. The stew smelt like heaven and the meat fell apart. Anytime you put it inside your mouth, it will just melt. It is also very tender and sweet when you are chewing the meat.

People came from every street, every corner just to buy Ingaz’s jelloof fries. Drivers packed their buses or men left their passengers. Office workers in call. They were never left out. They will carry their takeaway bowl and will stand in the line just to buy Unazi’s hot jelloof fries. By noon, other food sellers packed up and go home.

But Mama Goazi is still selling her sweet jelloof fries even made other food vendors to stop selling because when they are done cooking no one is buying from them. But one thing people wondered was is it that this woman is just lucky or there is something in this chop of fries no one knows about his life was not always like this.

Once she has a husband, his name was Emma. Aa was a very tall, strong man who loved his children. Aa worked in a transport company driving long buses from city to city. Every time he came home, Acha would always bring gifts for his wife and also biscuits for the children. Sometimes he would also go extra and buy a little toy for them.

The children will appreciate him. Thank you papa hugging his legs while Unazi will smile. Thank you my darling husband. You are trying know those little things make the children very happy. But unfortunately the happiness do not last forever. One rainy evening there was a very loud thunder and that made a maker’s bus to crashed on the express road.

That day the rain was really heavy. Unfortunately for a Mecca the brakes of his boss suddenly lost control and that was how he lost his life and that of his passengers. When Unazi heard about the news, she rushed to the hospital barefoot. When she arrived, the truth was already waiting. Her husband died on the spot.

He was already covered with white clothes. because he screamed till her throat to my husband and make her please wake up don’t leave me remember our children please but the dead do not answer from that night’s life changed the landlord came after 2 weeks to come for his rent madameazi where is my rent your husband is gone your rent is not also gone I beg pay me or leave my house.

This house is not a charity organization. Goazi begged. Give me small time or landlord. I will find a way to pay you. But the man refused. He was a very wicked landlord that even the tenant feared him. Even goats need money for shelter. He shouted at Unazi, “If you don’t pay, you you leave my house. You know me.

” Goi begged and begged, but unfortunately she couldn’t meet up with the promise she gave the landlord. And that was how she was chased out like a stray dog. Her things were thrown in the rain. The man was really heartless. Her children cried as they crushed their mother’s wrapper. Where are we going to go now, mama? Goi wiped her tears, but she had no answer.

She kept on reassuring her children that God will help them. From that day onwards, he moved from one corner to corner. She washed clothes for strangers just for a penny so that she can feed chicken people’s houses. Sometimes she will get ordinary 500 naira. Sometimes she may get insulted even after working so hard to work for a particular client.

And this made her sometimes and her children barely had anything to eat. They would eat crumbs and sometimes the children would be licking plates that they picked from the dust bin. A leftover food. It was that bad. At night they will look for an uncompleted building or a roadside store to go and sleep.

Then one day after they walked for hours they were so exhausted. Then cited a bus park nearby. The place was very noisy. Drivers were shouting Lagos Lagos enter with your change. Conductors clapping their hands. Hold your back tight. I beg who they go weary. stood by one corner observing the whole thing that was going on even though she looked like a shadow very tired and broken.

An idea caught up to her. She then decided to go near one of the mango tree there. She spread her wrapper on the floor and asked her two children to sit down there and not move an inch. That was how Mugazi started begging from one boss to another, asking for a little money just to feed her children. With that, some people gave her money.

Some people even bought her food. But that night, they slept at that park. Boss finished them that night, but they had no choice because where else would they sleep if not that park? Goi was so exhausted. She was really crying after her children slept on her body. God, why me? Why do I deserve this kind of punishment? My husband’s family, nobody wants to help us. I am just an orphan.

Oh, please help me. Goazi became popular among the people selling in that park. They know her as a beggar. Then one morning a woman selling food by the roadside. The woman sells beans by the roadside. She called in Goazi one fateful day and said to her, “Take this small beans at least feed your children.

I’ve seen the way you are hustling and you are really trying. God will find a way for you very soon.” Mas’s eyes were filled with tears that faithful day. She was so happy. Chai, go bless you, ma. Ah, you don’t know what you have done for me. Rushed down and went and shared the beans and bread with her children.

For the first time in days, they smiled. That night, they still slept at that park. Then made a vow that she would not let her children die of hunger. Even if she must crawl, she will find a way to stop doing something at the park. With the little money she got from begging people at the park, she decided to borrow a small pot from that beans woman, she bought just one model of rice with little ingredients.

From there, she lit a small firewood and started cooking beside the mango tree. The smell of the jelloof fries she was cooking spread in the backyard. And people were asking, “Huh, who they cook this food? Oh, this food go sweet though. See the way they smell. Just then one of the driver walked closer to her and told her, “Madame, I beg, sell one plate for me.

How much you they sell?” Cuz he looked at him confused. “Sell?” “No, but this is just for my children.” The man laughed so hard. I beg, not they joke. Sell small rice for me. I will pay. My belly don’t dry like this. And just like that, Mugazi scooped one plate of food for the man. The man ate. Afterwards, the man now gave her money.

Was still complimenting her food or more. This your rice sweet. Madame, you shall be cook. As the man was hyping the food, others came. Madame, give me now. I want you. I add small stew without meat. I beg. Just like that. Before could say, Jack, the pot was empty. She sold everything. In fact, her children did not see even one spoon of rice to eat from that spot.

By the time Unazi counted her money, she was really shocked. This was way more than what she begged in a day. Whenever she beg, people dash her money. But the money she got from just small pot of rice was really much. She then decided that ah it’s time to set up a rice business. So from the money she made she got her children what they wanted to eat that evening aara and bread.

Then the next morning went and buy more rice bought ingredients and she cooked again. This time around more people came. By afternoon the pot finished worked hard every day. Her hand became rough from washing, cutting and stirring. Still something troubled her. Each day she cooked her money almost finished before she buy a new rice.

It was never enough to save even one cobo. Sometimes she wondered if she could continue. Some nights her children still slept hungry. All because she does not want to spend out of the money. She looked at her small pot. God, if only this pot could contain more food. Eh, if only this the food in this pot never finishes.

Eh, I would have have more savings. I would have have more money at least to be able to be feeding my children every day, morning, afternoon, and night. God, please help me. I am tired. I have nothing left if not this rice business. There is gain in it. Oh, but just because I started small and my children have to feed too. Because of that, I am not getting enough.

That night after Angosi said that prayer, she slept. But all of a sudden, a very cold breeze woke her up. She jumped up from where she was lying down, looked at her children. They were fast asleep. She then looked around and saw a man standing closer to them. Mugazi became scared instantly. Ah, I beg. Who are you? Don’t harm me.

Oh, I’m just a poor widow. Please don’t harm my children. The man laughed. I know your story. I know your pain. I know your hunger. That is why I am here. All of a sudden, the man stretched out his hand. He was holding a black pot. Then he said to Bugazi, “Take this pot, cook inside it. The food inside will never finish.

From morning till night, it will keep giving you double of what you put inside.” because his mouth was wide open. Never finish. Yay. I was just praying, you know. Is it how fast God answers prayer? Be man continued. If you use this spot, you will become rich. People will bow to you. Your children will eat until they are fat.

But’s eyes widened. But But what? The man’s smiles grew darker. Every full moon you must drop one coin inside the river. Only that. Do this and the pot will always serve you. Just a coin. Yes, just a coin. Once you do this, you will see how rich you will become. Inside of Unazi, she knew that kind of gift is not from God.

The one you will give and something will be given in return. She wanted to say no. But looked at her sleeping children. Their lips were dry. Look at where they are staying. You can’t even afford to rent an apartment. She had no choice. To her that was the only option. She reached out her shaking hands and took the port. Thank you sir.

Thank you sir. God bless you. The man laughed echoed in the night. Use it well low, but never forget my warning. Every full moon, drop a coin in the river. If you fail, you will pay with something greater. Before Unazi could speak again, the man vanished, but the court remained.

Unazi knew this kind of offer is not from God. She knew this is not something good, but she had to keep her mouth shut and go according to the plan. The next morning, Mugazi lit up her small fire. She poured a handful of rice into the pot, just a handful. She added water, salt, and a little oil. She covered the pot. Minutes later, the smell of the food she was cooking started spreading everywhere.

A very sweet, strong smell filling the air. She opened the lid. Her eyes nearly popped. In fact, cousin was shocked. The rice filled the pots. Just a handful of rice filled the pots. Not her full and the smell and the color everything was giving. Ha! This is not possible. Potty shouted. Her children ran to her.

Mama, this smell good. Please give us food. We want to eat. Before Unazi could think twice, people started rushing. A driver passed. Ah, madame. Is it rice you are selling? I beg go come and give us. Was scared at first, but with the way people were approaching. She had no choice than to start selling.

She scoop one plate, then another, then another. By afternoon, the queue was long. People shouted, “Ah, madame, hurry now. You are too slow. Give me two plates. Add meat well.” She scooked and scooped, but the pot never reduced. By evening, she counted her money. It was more than what she had ever seen in her life. She held it close to her chest. “God, thank you.

” But deep down, she remembered the man’s red eyes and the man’s words. She knew this was not from God. Her instinct kept on telling her this one is not ordinary. But Ugazi was blinded by the money. She pushed it that it was God’s doing that God heard her prayer, cleaned her tears and no one else will stop this shine from her.

As days turned into weeks, Mugazi cooked every morning. Every day she gave the pot just one full of rice. And from there people from every city came drivers, students, bankers, market women. How rise they pass any order. Everybody go they go. Even Mama Ch’s food know this one. Other sailors around her started getting affected. Goazi became very very famous.

People called her Madame Rice. As the money was flowing, she bought land. Mugan started building small. Her children went to the best school. In fact, her life turned around for the first time because they started wearing fine fine shoes. For the first time, they ate meat every day of their life.

She wore lace, expensive one. And she walked with pride. Neighbors greeted her with so much respect. Good morning, Madame Rice. And this to have so much pride in her. But every night she still remembered the bag, the she did just to be this rich. Drop one coin every full moon. After a while, something strange started happening. At first, a young boy vanished.

She had eaten late at her store. People searched for him, no trace. Two weeks later an Okadam man disappeared. The last place he was seen in Gazi’s shop. At first no one connected it. They said ah this city is dangerous. So people get lost every day. But because the pattern grew more and more every full moon one person will vanish.

Always the last person who ate her rice before midnight and gossip started going round. Though not everyone believed the gossip because it cannot just say that because someone ate from another person’s shop and the person missed the next day. It means that the person that owns the shop is the cause. People argued about it. Whenazi heard about the gossip going around that people that are always missing are people that eat last from her shop.

She was really confused. She kept on telling herself lies. No, it is not me or ah it’s the city or the bad people in the city. People vanish every day. Nobody should come to me and say I am the one that did this or did that. But Mugazi knew that she was telling herself lies. Every night whenever she closes her eyes, it is always that man’s red eyes she will be seeing.

And the voice that kept on saying only a coin or something greater. Sometimes she barely had a very good sleep. Yet she kept on deceiving herself that is not from her store that people are dying from. Then one fateful evening, a young girl came to Unazi shop and finished eating that day. She was the last person to finish eating.

The young lady also came with her mother. When she was done eating that evening, she then left Unazi’s shop to go and look for her mother. All of a sudden, the mother herself ran inside a bus park shouting, “My daughter now, she was here. She ate here.” was confused. I don’t understand. Yes, she ate here, but she left.

She said she want to go and meet you. But the woman was shouting, “No, I did not see her.” They searched the whole back. They searched the whole environment and the young girl was nowhere to be found. The mother was shouting, “Ha, my only daughter, where is she?” Everybody’s eye turns to go. Some shouting at her. Madame R say the truth now.

What is inside that your porti was standing looking confused inside my port? I don’t know anything. Oh, I only cook. Please believe me. But the fear was stronger than pity. The drivers there had to call their head in that park. When the man came, he only said if this is spiritual as people guess or think they will need to call a strong man of God to come and pray at least let’s see if truly Madame Rice her hands are clean.

The man made the call and in less than 30 minutes the man of God came and they started praying. As he was praying, he looked towards the pot that Unazi was cooking with and asked two of his men to carry the pot up. They carried the pot up. Goazi was really scared. Her hearts were pounding so fast. Her hands were trembling. She knew that something bad is going to happen.

The second thought, the man of God said no that the boy should not lift the pot of rice. He then instructed to lift it up herself. But Unosi was now still looking confused. Eh, I cannot I cannot lift it. But the man of God taunted her with a very loud voice. Will you lift this pot now? Goi out of fear lifted the pot and drop it on a bare floor.

Then the man of God sprinkled some olive oil and started praying. Few minutes later she asked people to look inside the court and see what is inside. When few people looked inside, they were just screaming and shouting, “Blood of Jesus. Hey, there’s no rice inside though. There’s no meat. It was pouring with maggots. Huge white maggots.

” People screamed. Some ran. It looks like an insect. Voices started echoing from behind. Ah, we said it. Madame rice is wicked. This food cooking is not ordinary. How can someone be selling food from morning till morning and nonstop? I beg. We said it. I knew it. How can an ordinary beggar just like that transform her life in just less than 3 months? She start sleeping on this park.

People gossiped but others did not listen. Just then the prophet turned to Mugazi and asked her to confess. Mugazi started crying. Ah, I don’t know. It cannot be. I only cooked food. Ah, please. You people should not tag me as a witch or someone that is using people for ritual. How can I do that? My children also eat from the same pot.

The prophet looked at her and said, “This is not food. This is blood. This woman has fed a lot of people with debts and that is why after he finished eating their food one by one they kept on disappearing. The man of God turned towards Unazi pointed Bible at her and asked her to start confessing or else the consequences would be so bad.

Unazi out of fear she didn’t know when she said I do not know. I only want to feed my children. I only want to get out of poverty. The man said, only a coin. Only a coin. Oh, the prophet shouted. I said it. So you bargained with darkness. Eh, you traded lies for wealth. This spot must be destroyed. The man of God lifted his Bible high and started praying.

The people he came with also joined him. They were praying, spreading a lot of olive oil on it. They kept on praying. Even the drivers, the people selling in the park, everybody joined and started praying. And just like that, the maggot exploded into smoke. The pot turned black then to ashes. And all of a sudden, who got it that was looking so beautiful, shining, her clothes turned very bad.

It went back to the normal clothes she was using before she became rich. her store. When she opened and was selling the rice suddenly caught fire, she received a call instantly that her house also was on fire. Everything she got through the bad money went under fire. Goazi knew she was finished. She knew that she bargained with the devil, but she was deceiving herself.

Then the prophet turned and said to everyone, “Let this be a lesson. Not every blessing is from God. Some wealth is dead in disguise. Goazi covered her face in shame. Her voice was just cracking as she was talking. God forgive me. You people should forgive me. I was blind. Oh, I was desperate. I was just greedy. The poverty was getting to me.

I had no choice. But the pleading was to deaf ears because everyone hated her. The damage was already done. The lady in question, the child is gone and there is nothing that can bring that little girl back. The rest that never finished had finally finished. Then as Unazi was still pleading and begging that people should forgive her, she did not know, the prophet looked at her and commanded her to tell everyone how she even got the port in the first place.

Speak the truth, woman. How did you get this spotazi started? Eh, please people should not be angry. Oh, it was just one night. I was lying under the tree here with my children. A man came. His eyes were red like fire. He gave me the pot. I first prayed though. I was asking God to help me because I was making a little gain, just little gain from the rice I was selling.

Then I was begging God to help me. All of a sudden, the man appeared and he gave me this spot. He said, “Nothing in this spot will never finish. I should just be dropping one coin in the river every full moon.” I thought I thought it was a blessing. Oh, I thought it was God that answered my prayer. God’s tears flowed like rain.

I swear I did not know. I only wanted to feed my children. I did not know that people will vanish. I did not know that their soul will cry inside my food. Ah, God forgive me. I did not know that the coin I’m dropping in the river means something. Ah, you people should forgive me. Everyone surrounding her was in shock.

Some people started calling her a witch, demanding that she would pay with debt. But the prophet told them not to take vengeance in their own hands. This is how the devil works. He comes when you are weak. He offers weak help. But behind it is blood and chains. She thought it was only coins, but every coin was a soul. You people should let this woman go.

We are going to pray in this park that everybody that comes here to board a bus will go and come back safely without any problem. Every darkness in this place go back to the pits of hell. Every soul taken be released. As the man of God finished praying, he then said to the head, the chairman of the park to send some people to that river.

They should get some water, mix it with salt, and speak around the whole park. They should also fast for only 3 days that everything will be back to normal. Just like that, the last girl that went missing mysteriously came back to the park. Everybody rejoiced. Everybody was so happy. The woman that thought she lost her daughter, she was the happiest.

That was how they forgave Uguzzi. That was how she left that pack in one piece. If not, they were not ready to let her go. They were ready to make her pay for the consequences of her actions. Instantly, Mugosi packed the remaining few of her things she could be able to get her hands on.

She held her children and she walked out of that bus park without looking back. She disappeared into the dark of the streets of the city. And from that day, no one saw her again. From that day onwards, the prophet’s voice echoed in every ear. Not every blessings come from God. Somewhere to look sweet, but carries death. Desperation car open the door to evil.

Patience and faith kept the soul safe. The moral of this story is greed can blind the heart. Pain can make you accept lies. Not every easy road is the right road. A cause hide behind many shortcuts. So if you are about to get helped by someone and everything looked too easy to be true, your instinct kept telling you this is wrong.

I think you should think twice before you dive in. So my besties, this is the end of my story. Thank you so much for watching.
