But beneath this outrage lies a much deeper, darker, and more terrifying secret about the political survival of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the hidden agenda of the Northern elite, and the ultimate destiny of this contraption called Nigeria. Let us unpack the heavy truths that were dropped in this mind-blowing expose.

1. The Arabic Curriculum Agenda: A Push Too Far?

Nigeria is a country birthed from colonial convenience. We were colonized by the British, which is why English remains our official lingua franca. Our immediate neighbors—Benin Republic, Cameroon, and Niger—are Francophone (French-speaking). So, logically, politically, and economically, the sudden push to drag Arabic into the Nigerian school curriculum makes absolutely no sense to millions of Southerners.

Let us call a spade a spade. Arabic is inextricably linked to Islam. For a Northern governor to push for its national integration is being viewed by Southerners not just as an educational reform, but as a blatant attempt to further an Islamization agenda.

The people in the South are asking very simple, very valid questions. What exactly does an Igbo man—who is majorly Catholic or Anglican—have to do with Arabic? What business does an Ijaw man from the creeks of the Niger Delta have with Arabic? What does an Edo man or an Urhobo man need Arabic for?

The hypocrisy is loud, and it is deafening. Every day, politicians from the North shout “One Nigeria, One Nigeria” on national television, but behind closed doors, they are allegedly introducing policies that completely alienate and oppress the rest of the country.

Look at your Naira notes right now. You will see Arabic inscriptions on them. We have a country supposedly governed by a secular Constitution, yet Sharia law operates freely in several Northern states. The system is skewed, and the people of the South and the Middle Belt are tired of pretending that we are living in El Dorado.

2. The Great Deception: Are We Truly “One Nigeria”?

For decades, the political elite have fed us the gospel of “One Nigeria.” They force us to sing the national anthem and recite the pledge, telling us that our strength lies in our diversity. But when you look at the reality on the ground, the truth is bitter.

As the commentator in the viral video noted, “If they are deceiving you in life, it is better you must not deceive yourself. What kind of a system is this?”

Let us look at the facts. In terms of primary and secondary education, the South is vastly more educated than the North. This is not an insult; it is a statistical reality. How many of these countries practice the Almajiri system? None! Even within Nigeria, the Yoruba people who are devout Muslims do not practice the Almajiri system. They send their children to school.

So why does the North insist on holding onto archaic systems that breed poverty and insecurity, while simultaneously trying to dictate the religious and educational pace for the more developed South? The North does not own this country, and it is high time they stopped behaving as if they do.

The Yorubas, the Igbos, the Ijaws, the Efik, the Ibibio, the Tivs, the Idomas, and all other tribes have a massive say in how this country is run. Nobody can just wake up and make statements as if the other parts of the country are fools.

3. The Terrorist Appeasement: A National Disgrace

While Southern leaders are busy building schools, creating tech hubs, and trying to attract foreign investment, what is happening in some parts of the North?

The video highlighted one of the most disgraceful and heart-breaking realities of modern Nigeria. We have sitting Northern governors openly begging heavily armed bandits and terrorists. These governors are publicly telling blood-thirsty killers, “Lay down your arms, and we will give you houses and grants.”

Close your eyes and imagine the absolute madness of this situation.

Men who have slaughtered innocent farmers, kidnapped schoolchildren, raped women, and burned down entire communities are being rewarded with houses and cash grants from the government! Meanwhile, in the Southeast, an Igbo man who sits in a studio with a microphone to agitate for the freedom of his people is violently hunted down, extraordinarily renditioned, and locked in solitary confinement.

This double standard is exactly why the country is heavily divided right now. How can you negotiate with and reward actual terrorists in the North, but deploy the full military might of the state to crush peaceful agitators in the South?

It is this exact level of blatant injustice that makes the concept of “One Nigeria” look like the biggest joke of the century to millions of citizens.

What would you have done in this situation? If you were a governor facing a massive banditry crisis, would you use state funds to build houses for terrorists, or would you deploy every single military asset to wipe them out completely?

4. The Amotekun Resistance: Yorubaland Cannot Be Conquered

If there is one thing the North has realized in recent years, it is that the South is no longer sleeping. The days of absolute compliance are over.

A few years ago, the insecurity in the Southwest reached a boiling point. Heavily armed Fulani herdsmen were invading ancestral Yoruba lands, kidnapping monarchs, slaughtering farmers, and occupying the forests. The federal security apparatus, controlled from Abuja, seemed completely unwilling or unable to protect the people.

But the Yoruba people are known for their deep political sophistication. The late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu (may his soul rest in peace), stood his ground like a lion. Alongside other Yoruba governors, he declared that enough was enough. They collectively established the Western Nigeria Security Network, famously known as Amotekun.

When Amotekun was formed, the Northern establishment fought it tooth and nail. Abubakar Malami, who was the Attorney General of the Federation at the time under President Muhammadu Buhari, tried everything within his legal power to ban Amotekun. They argued that it was unconstitutional.

But wait a minute! The North has had the Hisbah Police (Sharia Police) operating freely in Kano and other Northern states for years. The Hisbah police arrest people for drinking alcohol, destroy millions of Naira worth of beer belonging to Southerners, and enforce Islamic codes on the populace. The Federal Government never called Hisbah “unconstitutional.”

But the moment the Yorubas set up Amotekun to protect their own ancestral lands from terrorists, Abuja suddenly remembered the constitution. The hypocrisy was laid bare for the whole world to see.

However, the Yorubas stood their ground. They made it clear: Yorubaland cannot be conquered. They resisted the controversial RUGA settlement policy. They resisted the obnoxious Water Resources Bill. The message was sent loud and clear to the herdsmen migrating from the North into Southern forests: “Unless you are an indigenous hunter, or an animal, you have no business living inside our bushes!”

5. The Middle Belt Awakening

It is not just the Deep South that has woken up to this reality; the Middle Belt has suffered the most brutal brunt of the herdsmen crisis.

States like Benue, Plateau, and Taraba have been turned into killing fields over the last decade. Entire indigenous communities have been wiped out, their lands occupied by foreign invaders who migrated from the core North and beyond.

Because of this intense bloodshed, the political dynamics of the Middle Belt have changed forever. Now that he is in power, the Northern elite are allegedly trying everything possible to cage him, control him, and dictate the pace of his government. They want him to maintain the pro-North policies of the Buhari era.
