Known to be one of Hollywood’s toughest action heroes, Vin Diesel has a side most people rarely get to see. These are his greatest moments. Take all that down, okay? If you thought Vin Diesel’s helium voice was a surprise, think again because that’s not the only way he’s caught people off guard. As it turns out, the man can sing, too. Where’d you go on holiday? In fact, before becoming a Hollywood superstar, the actor had a very different way of entertaining the crowd. We happen to go back and try to find a little something something you used to do cuz you were like a street performer.

So much so that Paul Walker learned to do an impression of him. Man. Everybody’s looking for you in the Trailer, man, I just called YOUR PHONE LIKE OH, WHAT THE ARE YOU DOING, MAN? I’m Vin Diesel. Do you remember an early thing that actually worked out, an early job that you got? I did the toy fair.

And and he is the one and Not everyone would expect Vin Diesel to be the romantic type but it turns out the actor put a lot of effort into his first date only for things to take an unexpected turn.

I mean it was like such a big deal. I was like dad what play do what should I do? What’s going to be special for her? Right. And he said go take her to Dream Girls. So I went and I said I can’t afford Dream Girls but you can wait for 5 hours and get tickets for really cheap. So I waited for 5 hours and got tickets really cheap and and I went over to pick her up.

And she wasn’t there. And 2 minutes later [laughter] and 2 minutes later I see her pull up and a a guy is driving her. Oh my god. But then we You must have been heartbroken though. I I took it pretty good. I I we ended up going. She told me gave me a wonderful excuse that he was giving her driving lessons.

And that worked [laughter] for me. Now I asked you do you remember the guy you were in that video break dancing with? And that’s a very good question because it’s so long ago. How could I remember that guy right? Right. How many years? Like I mean 25 25 years 30 close something like that. Dave can you come over here for a second? ARE YOU KIDDING? NO.

DO YOU REMEMBER THE MAGIC? COULD you still DO THAT ROUTINE? SO I WAS HOLDING MY LITTLE PUPPY AND THE HEAD of the Hollywood Foreign Press who they’re the ones who decide who gets a Golden Globe. Came up to my dog to pet my little cute little Roman. What was it? A Roman, yeah. And the dog bit her on the nose.

Woah. [laughter] So, of course, I’ll never get a Golden Globe. Say goodbye to the Golden Globe. After starring in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vin Diesel has become known for saying the words, “I am Groot.” Naturally, Jimmy Fallon challenged him to see if he could pull off the catchphrase in different languages.

I want to see if I I’ll test you and just see if you remember how to do it in the languages. Okay. Ready? French. Je suis Groot. Uh Spanish. Soy Groot. See, your voice went deeper for that one. I know. It was you were like the first one you were like, “Je suis Groot.” Exactly. And then you were like You’re right. It’s not fair.

It’s not fair. It’s not fair. Now, you may not remember this, but 9th 18 years ago, you were in Australia promoting a small film called XXX. You were being chased by paparazzi. And I saw you. I was like this young journalist student. And I was like, “Let me help you.” And you jumped in my car and I rescued you from paparazzi.

Do you remember that? I think I do remember that. Do you? YEAH. I REMEMBER THAT! HOW BIZARRE! HOW 18 YEARS AGO. RANDOM! [laughter] SO, WE HAD THIS CAST DINNER and we were like, “Oh, Vin’s going to come.” And you know, like Vin coming to places is very important. So, obviously, wherever he goes, it’s like he can’t go to the streets.

And so, we were having this dinner and all of a sudden we hear like, “Fly me to the moon.” We’re like, “What’s happening?” Like this mood in this restaurant and all of a sudden walks in Vin with a boombox. A boombox! And I was like, “That’s a movie star right there.” Like Hang on, he walked in the restaurant playing music. Dame Helen Mirren is in this particular film. How did that Yeah, Helen.

I heard a rumor that Dame Helen Mirren approaches you at a party and says, I want to be in the next film. Is that true? Yeah, she was on a TV show and she was talking about, I love Vin Diesel and I would love to be in Fast and Furious and I don’t know why they never call me and and then I was at an Oscar party and she says, “Vin Diesel, [laughter] get your act together.

” After years of performing impossible stunts, Vin Diesel may be comfortable driving a car off a cliff, but there’s one amusement park ride where he draws the line. Are you a theme park guy? You can be uh you can be honest. You’re you’re not. What do What don’t you like about it? I’m not a real roller coaster kind of guy.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING, VIN? I MEAN, I I do stunts for a living. Yeah, you’re the one of the most biggest You’re You are the biggest What are you talking about? You’re afraid of roller coasters. When When did you When did you get this amazing voice that you’ve got? Uh Uh that’s a great question. I can tell you that once I was about 15 years old.

15, 16 years old. Uh I would call my mates and uh on the home phone and their mother would pick up and they would go, “Oh, who’s this?” [laughter] And I knew that my voice would change it. I bet you don’t get Brad and Ange doing that in Hollywood, do you? When you’re in LA? No, you don’t. You know, you just WEAR LESS CLOTHES.

So, I’m walking behind stage and I’m talking to Mark and all of a sudden I get a text. And I look and it’s Morgan Freeman, who’s always been one of my I love the Morgan Freeman since Electric Company.

Yeah, me too. Yeah. Easy Rider. Yeah. He looks at me really intense. He says, “You stopped me over 20 years ago and you went in your car and got a VHS tape of a film called Multi” and I finish the story for him. I would ride around LA with VHS copies of my short film Multifacial and I saw him on the street and I somehow thought it could be my big break, and I gave him a copy of the the short film I did, and he remembered it.

And I’m in the backstage and he’s telling me this whole story. It was so sweet. Didn’t he watch the movie? OF COURSE HE WATCHED THE MOVIE. SO, I grew up in this a kind of haunted building called Westbeth, which was a wonderful building. Miles Davis recorded there, but for some reason it was haunted. I don’t know.

If I ever feel like there’s a ghost, sometimes I’ve been in a hotel room where I go, “I may or might It feels like there might be a ghost here.” I just go, “Hey, I’m cool.” Yeah, that’s how I am. Assuming they can hear me, but I just send that vibe out like, You want to talk to me? I’m bored. Yeah, you want to talk to me? Let’s get it over with. I need to go to sleep.

I’d love to talk to a ghost. I have a schedule. Yeah, right? I would. Well, I mean, that’s not me. I mean, I’m good. I’m done with talking to ghosts. 20 years ago today is when Fast and the Furious started. This franchise that Did you BIGGER THAN ME? YOU WERE REALLY GOOD. OF COURSE I WAS THERE.

I was like, “Dude, let’s take this Ford Fiesta [laughter] I’m driving a Ford Fiesta and you’re like, “Yeah, I’m going to take the movie in a different direction.” Yeah, I go I was more furious than fast. going to forgive Jimmy and myself. BEFORE THE ACTION MOVIES AND THE GROOT VOICE, Vin Diesel had a serious love for breakdancing. That side of him may be in the past, but apparently he’s still willing to give dance lessons at 3:00 a.m. James Corden learned that first hand. I’m the dance. Yes, you told us a dance, Vin.
