Jaafar Jackson just confirmed something fans have been waiting for since the first movie ended. The sequel to Michael is happening and this time it’s going to talk about something the first film left out completely. Jaafar Jackson just spoke about how the allegations will be addressed in Michael part two and his answer could not be more perfect.

This guy became Michael on that screen. A lot of people try to emulate my brother. But he became Michael on the screen which brought tears to my eyes when I saw it. He did a wonderful job.

Let me tell you, it’s incredible. With Graham King and Antoine and all the the whole crew, man. They they captured everything. And there’s going to be a part two to this movie. We need a part two. It’s going to be that. Trust me. If you watched Michael in theaters this year, you already know it made history.

It became the first music biopic ever to cross $1 billion at the box office worldwide. That is not a small number. That is a movie that basically every music fan on the planet went to see and it turned Jaafar Jackson into a household name overnight. It’s news to most of the world because it’s epic news that our film has grossed over $1 billion at the BOX OFFICE WORLDWIDE.

BUT HERE’S THE THING. THE MOVIE STOPPED IN 1987 right after the release of Bad. It never touched what happened in the years after that. No abuse allegations. No 1993 case. No 2005 trial. Nothing. And a lot of people noticed the moment they walked out of the theater. For a film about someone as big and as complicated as Michael Jackson, ending the story right before the darkest chapter felt like a choice, not an accident.

And viewers picked up on that instantly. To to that end, I don’t want to give away too much, but the film does stop in in 1988, yes, several years before the first child molestation allegations were made. And, you know, we we live in a an environment now where we take survivors of sexual abuse, we take their stories very seriously.

What What would you say to folks who see this and they’re like, you know what? They whitewashed that part. They didn’t even include that part. How do you reconcile your performance with with that? I think the film The film takes place, you know, from the ’60s to 1988. So, it does not go into the first allegations in like 2005.

Fans online were split. Some said the movie handled it the right way, staying focused on the music and the man before the controversy started. Massive Michael Jackson fan. The music is sensational. Jaafar Jackson, not only does he look like a spitting image of his uncle, but the performance for a first time ever being an actor, being on film, being in front of camera, he’s a star in the making.

It’s truly enjoyable to watch as a concert film. If you’re a fan of Michael Jackson’s music, you will love this. And I did. The performances are great, as I said. I was bopping my head, I was bouncing my feet, I was ready to go. But that’s kind of where the enjoyment ends. Others said skipping all of it felt like the filmmakers were avoiding the hardest part of Michael Jackson’s story on purpose.

That debate has been going on for months now. Now, in a brand new cover interview with GQ Middle East, Jaafar Jackson finally addressed all of it directly. And what he said is already spreading fast online with clips and quotes getting shared across every fan page. In this interview, um he’s on a golf course and they’re talking about a ton of different things.

Uh started his career and where things are going. When they start talking about where things are going, they talk about the Michael Jackson sequel. Now, they ask him about the fact that the sexual assault allegations were not included in the first film and, you know, what are his feelings around that critique. Um and he gets right to it.

Jaafar said the second movie will give, quote, even more insight from Michael’s own point of view. He explained that the allegations people have heard for decades were never told from Michael’s side. They came from someone else’s version of events, and that version is the only one most people have ever known.

He chose his words carefully in the interview, but it was clear he had thought about this answer long before anyone asked him the question. He says that he thinks the second film will give more insight from Michael Jackson’s point of view on those allegations because at the end of the day, the allegations are always from someone else’s uh he’s talking about point of view.

And he does make it clear that like he doesn’t have any like deciding factor per se, so he doesn’t really know everything that will be in this biopic the second biopic. biopic biopic But he’s just talking about what he wants to see and what he thinks will happen. Uh he also goes on to say it’s always someone else’s story, it’s someone else’s idea of what it is, and it’s mainly driven by an agenda.

And that’s really the issue we’ve been having as a family. He also opened up about something more personal. Jaafar said the real issue for the Jackson family has never really been the allegations themselves. It’s that Michael’s own voice was never part of the conversation. He said that gap is something the family has felt for years, especially when people talk about the later, harder part of Michael’s life.

Talks about the fact that it was split up across two films as well, too. He says that he actually believes that it offers a chance to get a deeper understanding. He says the first film focuses on Michael from his roots, so you get that idea of who he was before he had all this the success and became the icon that people are familiar with.

You understand who he was as a human. Now, is Jaafar just saying this to defend his uncle? Some fans think so. But others are pointing out that Jaafar actually studied Michael’s private journals to prepare for this role, so his perspective might carry more weight than a normal outsider’s opinion would. He’s not just an actor playing a character here, he’s family.

And he spent months living inside his uncle’s private thoughts before a single scene was filmed. According to reports, Jaafar had access to personal notes and writings that gave him a rare look into how Michael actually thought and felt during the hardest years of his life. That’s not something every actor gets. That’s an insider’s window into the real person behind the headlines.

You know, it was a long process and I always was in search of wanting to learn new things and just staying curious, but you know, I was given a a lot of Michael’s personal drawings and a lot of personal journaling at the same time. I really start to really dive into that world of what he was expressing on each day or what he was feeling like while creating certain albums.

So, it really surprised me to see a lot of affirmations that he would on a daily place around his bedroom in the in the bathroom in the mirror and just how that really evolved throughout the process of all the albums that he’s created. He did that throughout his life. This isn’t the first time someone close to Michael has pushed back on how the media covers this story.

Michael’s nephew Taj Jackson has said publicly that the media doesn’t control the narrative anymore and that people watching the film will make up their own minds about who Michael really was. Look at it this way. Mhm. A lot of people, until they saw Michael in in The Wiz and all that stuff, didn’t think Michael Jackson probably could act.

Yeah. why just because you as an entertainer, you just can’t assume that someone just acts in that way, but I can tell you really same thing with Janet in that way. And and when it comes to Jacksons, you as I said, you give us the opportunity, we’re going to kill it if we have that opportunity.

We’re not We One thing we are not going to do is be embarrassed in that way. Right. And Colman Domingo, who plays Michael’s father Joseph in the film, said something similar during the press tour. He said the movie is told through Michael’s eyes. That idea keeps repeating every time someone from this project speaks publicly and now Jaafar is saying it again in his own way.

So, basically, we we center it on the makings of Michael. So, it’s an intimate portrait of who Michael is. Yeah, it’s through his eyes, sorry. Through his eyes, I’m saying through through his eyes, true. So, that’s what it is. So, that’s what this film is. And And a possibility of it being a part two that may deal with some other things that happened afterwards.

This is about the making of Michael, how he was raised, and then how he was trying to find his voice as an artist and be a solo artist. And then the movie I mean the Well, you know, that’s what that’s what I have to say about that. So, what will the sequel actually cover? Based on what director Antoine Fuqua has said, the team already filmed footage going past 1987.

He mentioned they went as far as the mid-1990s, right around the time things started turning against Michael in the public eye. Some of that footage was shot but never used in the first film. We had a legal issue we found out after we had finished shooting the film that the estate um didn’t realize at the time.

So, it was a little bit of a shock to both of us after we had wrapped shooting. But, you know, we just kind of got over it and went back and um wasn’t going to give up. And [snorts] I think it’s actually been a new blessing in disguise, to I think yeah, I think yeah. Michael Michael’s spirit was was around a lot.

This is This is a really strong film that gives you much more joy. That means the sequel might not be starting from zero. Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group Chairman Adam Fogelson said that roughly a quarter to a third of the second film is already done earlier shoots. That’s a huge head start for a movie that hasn’t even officially begun full production yet.

And it also means the story direction was likely locked in a long time ago, long before this interview ever came out. The Lionsgate film chief has promised that it is going to be a big and satisfying movie with the most popular music still to come. He said, “We are really excited about the progress we’re making with respect to a second Michael film.

All the conversations that we’ve been having with all of the appropriate parties continue to go exceptionally well. I would say that there is a ton of incredibly entertaining Michael Jackson story and much of the biggest and most popular parts of his music catalog that were not touched upon in the first film. There are so many other events that happened even in the time frame of the original movie that weren’t touched upon.

So, we’re very very confident confident? I don’t know why I said it like that. That we’ve got an incredibly entertaining movie that will appeal once again to a global audience as the pieces come together. As for timing, reports say production is expected to start toward the end of this year or early next year. The actual release is being planned somewhere between late 2027 and the first half of 2028.

So, fans still have a wait ahead, but the direction of the story is becoming much clearer now. Some fans are relieved because the film won’t just skip past the hardest chapter again. Others are saying they’ll believe it when they actually see it on screen since a family-backed project talking about family-related allegations always raises questions about how balanced it will really be.

There’s also a bigger question hanging over all of this. Will the sequel show both sides or will it lean entirely toward defending Michael? Ja’far’s comments suggest the film wants to give Michael’s side of the story a real voice. But critics are already saying that giving one side more screen time doesn’t erase the seriousness of what was alleged against him and that a fair movie needs to sit with both sides, not just the one the family is most comfortable with.

And I think what critics are saying is stupid because Michael was proven innocent by the law. So, what fairness from both sides are they talking about? So, Paris Jackson posted a video about the authenticity of the Michael the Michael Jackson movie and she basically said that they glamorized and pandered parts of his career and his life um to be more tailored and pleasing to the audience.

And I I absolutely agree with what she said. Some people don’t agree with it because they’re like, “Oh, that’s not even really his daughter.” People online are also debating whether this approach could backfire. Some fans are saying that if the sequel feels too one-sided, it could hurt the film’s credibility, even with a billion-dollar first part behind it.

Others are saying that after decades of one-sided media coverage, Michael’s family finally deserves the chance to tell it their way. This is not a documentary. If you want the whole full truth story, whatever, and again, I’m using the word truth loosely. Yeah. Truth, everybody has their own truths. Yeah. Michael has his truth, La Toya has a truth, and Janet has a truth, and Jermaine has a truth, and Tito has a truth, and Joseph has a truth.

What is truth? That’s the first question. But, I don’t I didn’t walk into this looking for a documentary cuz I leave that to the journalists. But, the journalists do a very good job. It it have and we have litigated his entire past. By the way, as we said, he has gone to trial for some of these allegations when he was alive, and he was acquitted on all charges.

This is exactly why the conversation around this movie refuses to die down. Michael Jackson remains one of the most successful and most controversial entertainers in history, and every new update about this franchise reopens the same debate all over again, pulling in millions of comments and reactions within hours.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a small quote from an interview or a full trailer drop, people show up for this story every single time. For now, what we know for certain is this. The sequel is moving forward. Jaafar Jackson has confirmed the allegations will be part of the story this time, told from Michael’s perspective.

And with a billion-dollar first film already in the books, the pressure on this next chapter is only going to grow with every passing month.
